Day 3 - Monday

Nothing happened. We had a little rain, and hubby was too tired to work in there when he came home...major headache.
Hopefully on Tuesday, he might feel up to it.

Day 2 - Sunday

Only worked in the garden for about an hour or so. They kids gave a big hand in getting some of the work done.

Day 1 - Saturday

We decided to start the clearing process on Saturday. Here are some shots of the garden before we started.

During the clearing process.

The pumpkin that we have growing in the chicken pen. Japanese pumpkin, there are 2 vines growing there and they are blooming and have quite a few pumpkins on it. We are just waiting for them to ripen so they can become pumpkin soup during winter and scones and anything else that we can make up with them.

Starting a fresh

Well the garden has been laying bare for some time now. I cannot remember when we had something in there, but I am sure it was before summer hit us.

So, since it is getting cooler, and we like cabbage, broccoli and other vegetables, it was about time that we started getting the garden ready for produce.

There is still a lot of work to do. We have 4 hens, and they killed everything we had in our garden this past summer, so a fence needs to go up before any planting can take place. Weeds need to be removed. Rubble from the previous owners needs to be moved and then we can have a nice clean area to work in and not worry about snakes or other nasties hiding in there.

This is a family effort, with the kids taking an active (and sometimes they are in the way) role in getting the garden ready. They are happy to be outside and helping their father work in getting the weeds out of the garden bed.
